National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is an event co-sponsored by the National Coalition for the Homeless and the National Student Campaign Against Hunger and is held every year the week before Thanksgiving. This year’s Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is taking place on November 16th – 24th. The event is set aside for churches, schools, communities and cities throughout the country to increase awareness of the problems of hunger and homelessness.
Rock of Hope will be coordinating an educational event called “Faces of Hunger and Homelessness” on Thursday, November 21st at 6:00 PM. This event is being held in conjunction with the National Coalition for the Homeless and will feature guest speakers and a panel of homeless people from Little Rock. Attendees will learn about the plight of hunger and homelessness in America (and in our own backyard). A complementary meal will be prepared by Flavours Catering to the first 100 registered guests (more information to come regarding how you can reserve your spot).
Faces of Hunger and Homelessness will be held at AEDD’s (Arkansas Enterprises for the Developmentally Disabled) Multipurpose Center located at 105 East Roosevelt Road in downtown Little Rock. All organizations engaged in fighting hunger and/or homelessness are welcome to participate in this event. Registered organizations can set up a table to distribute information and recruit volunteers.
